Prof. Anita Chong Wins AJT’s 2017 Award for Best Basic Science Paper

Congratulations to Department of Surgery Professor Anita S. Chong for receiving the 2017 award for Best Basic Science Paper in the American Journal of Transplantation! Her findings determine that some types of bacterial infections can destabilize or even override established transplantation tolerance, and cause the acute rejection of the allograft—even if tolerance was robust to begin with.

She presented the basic and clinical observations on the findings of treating acute antibody-mediated rejection with Belatacept and proteosome inhibitor (Bortezomib), in collaboration with Ron Pelletier at the Ohio State University.
